Walgreens publicly tells current team members to use the Applicant Tracking System on W Connect when applying for another role. The company’s team-member careers page says employees can access W Connect on the web or through the mobile app, search for openings, and upload a resume to an internal application. That makes internal jobs one of the clearest publicly documented W Connect workflows.

The useful part is not a copied “login” button; it is understanding how the internal-candidate process differs from browsing public jobs. Your current-employee status matters, and Walgreens notes that even internal candidates should upload a resume. A well-prepared internal application should explain your skills and career path rather than assuming the recruiter already knows your work.

The official route for current team members

Walgreens directs current employees to the ATS on W Connect. Use the official team-member careers page as a verification point if you are unsure which bookmark is current. The same page says employees can search by title, job function, keyword or requisition ID and can save a job to finish the application later.

Why your internal resume still matters

An internal applicant has context that an external applicant does not, but a recruiter still needs a clear record of skills and accomplishments. Walgreens specifically says internal candidates should upload a resume and explain their career journey. Treat the resume as a portable summary: current role, measurable responsibilities, relevant systems or licenses, recent achievements and the skills that connect to the next role.

A clean application workflow

  • Read the posting closely: separate minimum qualifications from preferred skills and note the location, schedule and role level.
  • Match evidence to requirements: use examples from your current or prior work rather than generic claims such as “hard worker.”
  • Use the requisition ID: save it with your notes so you can identify the exact opening if several titles look similar.
  • Upload a current resume: Walgreens explicitly recommends this for internal candidates.
  • Keep application records: retain the confirmation or status information the ATS provides without copying confidential internal material.

W Connect is the route; the ATS owns the application

This distinction helps when troubleshooting. If W Connect loads but the job search does not, the issue may be in the ATS rather than in the W Connect home experience. If the ATS accepts a search but not an application submission, record the job ID and the exact non-sensitive error. Saying “W Connect is down” is less useful than identifying which linked system failed.

What if you are not a current Walgreens team member?

Use the public Walgreens careers site rather than trying to enter an internal team-member path. Internal-candidate tools can rely on active employment status. A former employee who wants to return should follow the public candidate route unless Walgreens provides a specific current instruction otherwise.

Privacy and internal information

Do not paste confidential store information, patient information, internal financial data or another employee’s personal data into a resume just to demonstrate impact. Describe accomplishments at the level needed to show scope and results. A recruiting document should not become a vehicle for information that your employer expects to remain confidential.

If W Connect access is the blocker

Verify the official domain and compare web vs. mobile access. If the problem is account-specific, use Walgreens’ current support route rather than a third-party site. The W Connect troubleshooting guide provides a layered way to identify whether the failure is the destination, app/browser, verification step or linked system.

Treat the internal application as its own record

Walgreens’ public careers guidance tells current team members to use the Applicant Tracking System on W Connect. Once you enter that workflow, the application record—not the W Connect news feed—is what matters. Before submitting, verify the requisition or role title, work location, resume version and contact details you are authorized to use. Save the confirmation or status information provided by the ATS so you can distinguish “I opened the job” from “the application was actually submitted.”

Internal applicants should also avoid copying confidential store, patient, customer or business information into a resume or free-text field. Describe responsibilities and results without moving protected data out of the systems where it belongs. If the role requires a manager discussion or another internal step, follow the current company process rather than assuming an external candidate tutorial applies to employees.

If a status looks wrong, separate access from recruiting support

If you cannot reach W Connect at all, start with access troubleshooting. If W Connect opens but the ATS shows an unexpected application status, that is a recruiting-workflow question rather than a generic portal failure. Record the requisition, the date you submitted and the status shown, then use the current internal recruiting or HR route available to you. Former employees should use the external Walgreens careers site for new applications instead of relying on an old internal link.
